Virtual Squeaky Bone

Posted by Rob White on 24 September 2020

Ok are you ready for the next challenge?

To celebrate when would normally be running the squeaky bone we are having the first-ever virtual squeaky! This can be both a team and solo event, so it’s up to you.

If you are running solo all you need to do is get out a post a lap, and teams will need to post four laps.

You can have between 2-4 members in your team, teams with less than four members will need to decide who runs the extra lap! Teams do not need to run at the same time, so all I ask is that you allocate a team captain to collate the times. The event will begin on Friday 25th and run until October 27th, so you have plenty of time to run.Teams and solo runners can also go back out and improve their times as many times as they like as well.

If you could email your team details through to info@olneyrunners.org.uk, please

The route starts at the bottom of Clifton Hills going in up the badly paved path before you hit the steep climb up to the path. From there you run-up to the gate (please make sure you close this properly!) and head down the bridleway towards the village. Halfway down this path take the left turn and take the path towards the church. Follow the path and join on to the road and follow this until the Robin Hood, then go left up spring lane and run to the top following the route as it goes left over the small bridge. From here you run straight down the hill all the way to Lavendon Mill weir. Once you make it to the weir, take a second to enjoy the view and get your breath back, then turn around and run back! On the return leg, you don't run to the church but take the left turn up the bridleway just after the pub and run all the way back to Clifton Hills, go back through the gate and run down the path passing the steep climb until the path turns right sharply. Then run down to where you began to complete the loop!

And you are done!  The whole route should be 3 miles, I would suggest running an extra few yards past the start point to make sure you complete the Strava segment.
