Our first memorial “Run for Jim” in December 2019 was a tremendous success which brought together over 150 runners from local clubs, non-runners and family and friends from around the globe to remember our lovely Jim Richardson, a member of Olney Runners, who we sadly lost to cancer on 19th December 2018.

Whilst we can’t unfortunately hold our “Run for Jim” event in the same way as last year, what better way for us all to come together than to join in with our post-box challenge, which we chose as Jim worked for Royal Mail for 30 years. This is a great opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit after a very difficult Covid-19 year for us all, to remember Jim and how he loved to run, and to ensure we raise lots of money for Willen Hospice, who cared for both Jim and the rest of the family, during his last few months and who are desperate for funds this year.

The aim of the challenge is to run/walk/cycle a route (you can do more than one route during the month), that will enable you to reach as many post boxes as possible! We will provide you with a list of where post boxes are located within various local villages and towns. You can participate as an individual, a family household, or a team of up to 6 people (socially distanced of course!) You just need to plan your route and then tick the post-boxes off your list as you find them! For those wishing to really go for it, you can find the location of more post-boxes in further away villages by logging onto www.postboxfinder.co.uk and adding more to your list!

Prizes of chocolate will be awarded for:

v Best Christmas costume!

v Best/Funniest Selfie with a post box!

v Furthest post box achieved as measured from the Market Place in Olney!

v Most post boxes ticked off!

Our club members are always truly awesome at both getting behind these challenges and extremely generous at supporting great causes so we really would urge you to get behind this month’s challenge to remember Jim and raise lots of money for Willen Hospice! Let’s make this a really special event to finish 2020 with some seasonal cheer!
