I was a quiet month for races but that doesn't mean they were lacking in quality.
To begin the month Simon Cook fulfilled a lifetime running goal by lining up in Chamonix to race against the world’s great mountain runners to compete in the Marathon Du Mont Blanc. With 8400 feet of climbing, this is no ordinary marathon and with blisteringly hot conditions coming in 465 place overall is an amazing achievement.
Meanwhile up in Bolton, Doug Smith completed the Full Iron Man distance and came in 150th overall in a great time of 10 hours & 17 minutes, brilliant work
As always, the Doug Anderson 5k was brilliantly hosted by Bedford Harriers and with 19 Olney Runners braving the heat to put in great performances throughout the field, a great night was had by all.
To end the month Eoin O'Cearbhaill ventured up to Scotland to compete in the City to Summit. This is not for the faint hearted as it consists on a 15-mile run 115-mile bike ride followed by a mountain marathon over Ben Nevis. It sounds like an amazing but brutally challenging race, so congratulations to Eoin he came 26th overall!
