Harrold Pit Run

The Harrold Pit Run was not blessed with the best weather but that did not stop 28 Olney Runners from representing.
This year we had great results from every part of the club from Couch 2 5K through to Juniors.
First mentioned needs to go to a star of the future, Max Innes who took top spot in his age group in the children’s race. This proved to be an inspiring performance as Claire Innes (Max’s mum) went on to place third overall in the female category, Joined by Donna Evans who ran a brilliant race to take top spot to be the first lady over the line.
There was also great success in the men’s category with Matthew Dicks claiming third place in what was an incredibly competitive field. Joining Matthew in the top ten were Steve Holton and Darren Darkins, who collectively took the overall team award!
The Juniors were also well represented with Saskia Chaplin, Molly White, Hannah Goodge, William Westwood and Gillian Cartmell all running superbly, with Saskia taking the overall victory for the under 15 category and fourth female overall.
The final mention should go to Phillip Wilkins who as a current member of the latest Couch 2 5K program, decided to enter and had a great run.
So, it was a successful day all round, and whilst the results and podiums are awesome the greatest achievement was a collective one with the blue and gold in view throughout the race. So well done to everyone, these local races are so important to support and I’m sure the club’s attendance made a difference to the success of the day.
